Rev. Howard F. Travers, Jr. Invoking Excellence In Education

These goals reflect my commitment in invoking excellence in education as a faithful steward of the Wicomico County Board of Education's vision and values, with a core responsibility to support student success through strategic oversight and thoughtful leadership.

I am a native of Salisbury, Maryland, and am a product of the Wicomico County Public School System. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. My seminary degrees - a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Divinity degree are from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University) in Waxahachie, Texas. In 2025, I was also awarded an honorary Doctorate degree from North Central Theological Seminary in St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition to this, I am also a certified Thanatologist (Google it) and am an ordained Assemblies of God minister. My wife, Dana, and I have been married since 1987 and reside in Salisbury with our furry family.

I have served my community nearly (40) years as a law enforcement, correctional, hospice, hospital, and fire Chaplain in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties. I presently serve as the Founder and Lead Pastor of Nu-Lyfe Church in Salisbury, Maryland, and am also the Founder and President of Witness International, Inc. - a criminal justice and recovery ministry in Salisbury. In addition to these positions, I also serve as the Worcester County Meals on Wheels Coordinator through the County Commission on Aging.

These practices not only enhance the effectiveness of the Board of Education, but they also build trust and respect within our community. It is my goal to continue to embody these qualities and to serve the public education needs of my District.
